Caves were the first temples. And the darkness that was found within them was the altar. The foundation from which greater vision could emerge. The descent into darkness was a deeply religious affair. Our earliest ancestors sought darkness like Neg Age practitioners now seek light.
What happened in the human imagination when we went from worshipping below ground to above ground? When we went from submitting to the shape and darkness and powers of the underworld, to being able to build these cathedrals and mosques and places of worship that we know today?

This course aims to offer a new relationship with the Spirit of Darkness, one in which it is seen as a wombic, compassionate, fertile and illuminating force that can be worked with as an important ally. For three weeks, we seek to let Darkness illuminate our truest self that resides beneath the layers of socio-cultural conditioning, trauma, and upheld roles and beliefs, while drawing on shamanic methodologies to incorporate into every-day life.

As St. John of the Cross wrote, “If a person wishes to be sure of the road they tread upon, they must close their eyes and walk in the dark.”

I cannot tell you how excited I have been for this class! I haven’t been able to go to sleep until like 4 am for the past week. I think the Darkness was already beckoning me. And today when you were talking I literally felt giddy about the spirit of Darkness. I think I fell in deep love during the Shamanic Journey today. This is the second course I enjoy from Gabriela (I also did Seership) and the most audible words from her I'm left with are: "There is no right or wrong way of doing this".
To walk in grace and less biases. To drop into the body without the pressure to be, but the curiosity to feel. Because ultimately, apart from the wonderful methods she shares, she has taught me to trust myself in the dark, with all the discomfort and expansion that comes with it.
